‘I produce digital prints that are made with the use of a computer and a high grade nine colour ink-jet printer; the digital prints start as a sheet of blank electronic “paper” and are “drawn” or “painted” using an electronic pen.

I spend considerable time ensuring that the colours are as accurate as possible and the materials are of good quality: I use acid free ink-jet paper and Lyson ‘PhotoChrome R-38’ inks that have good light-fastness so purchasers can buy with confidence. As with any painting or print, these should not be hung in direct sunlight.’

‘I call these “digital prints” or “ink-jet prints” and not “gicleés” which is a term I object to (apart from its vulgarity) as all it seems to mean today is a supposedly high quality ink-jet print but with a shroud of mystery seemingly aimed at overcharging the public.’

Included below are a set of four prints produced by Shape Arts as part of their ‘Pop-up’ range. These are printed by four colour offset-litho on coated stock in signed editions of 500.
